about

Alex Over’s, Over Recordings return this February with the ‘Return’ EP from Ryan Pamatmat & Pav Parotte, backed with remixes from the label-head himself and Al Bradley.

Ryan Pamatmat is a London based producer and DJ and Pav Parotte is based in Manila, The Philippines, the duo run club nights in Manila called Frequency where they’ve honed in on dance floor mechanics, enabling them to create their own productions, here they return to Over Recordings following their ‘FreQ’ EP in 2012 and once again they deliver heady house music designed for peak-time action.

The original mix of ‘Return’ opens the release here, a deep, dark, contemporary house cut, driven by eerie low-end tones and crunchy drums. The duo manipulate vocals throughout to fuel the tracks movement while the latter stages introduce a hooky organ line that tails things out with a heady groove. Next up is Pamatmat & Parotte’s ‘Re-Work’, bringing the drums the forefront while the organ lines brilliantly meander around the weighty groove in the background. Following is the ‘FourTwenty Edit’, stripping things back and contrastingly moving its focus entirely towards the melodics of the original, Ryan & Pav bring the hooky melody to the forefront, introducing subtle variations along the way, the result is a deep, jazz infused house track.

The first of the remixes comes from label-head Alex Over’s, tipping things into a dreamy, ethereal state with warm, bright pad lines, loose drums and a penetrating stab line. Over applies a generous amount of automation throughout to create a flourishing dynamism with drawn out delays and reverb bursts. 3AM Recordings artist Al Bradley steps up to rework ‘Return’ next with his ‘3am Deep Remix’, with a modern bass- driven number. A jittery bass-line storms in from the off as the initial energy for the track while subtle chord progressions, white noise sweeps and resonant tones simply flutter in the background, Bradley delivers fresh infectious house which as the name would suggest is designed for those 3am dance floor moments.

Ryan Pamatmat & Pav Parotte’s ‘Return’ EP is out on Over Recordings 25th February 2013.
